A South African airline will initially operate regular flights twice a week to Mozambique, in an initiative aimed at boosting tourism in the country and the Southern African region.
The announcement was made on Monday in Vilankulo , during the International Tourism Fair (FIKANI) , by the operations manager of Airports of Mozambique (ADM) , Fonseca da Fonseca , who highlighted the strategic importance of the new air route.
According to the official, the introduction of this connection represents an important milestone in strengthening regional connectivity , opening new opportunities for tourism and for investments associated with hotels, restaurants and transport.
“This new route is strategic not only for the development of national tourism, but also for consolidating Mozambique as a benchmark destination in the region,” emphasized Fonseca da Fonseca.
The choice of Vilankulo as the highlight for the advertisement is no accident. The district is considered one of the country's main tourist hubs , due to its paradisiacal beaches and proximity to the Bazaruto Archipelago , one of the most sought-after destinations for national and international tourists.
Mozambican authorities hope that the opening of the new air route will increase the flow of visitors and strengthen commercial and cultural ties between Mozambique and South Africa, the country's main source market for tourists.
